Syllabus 2026

Exam syllabus and exam pattern for major central and state government exams.

What is Exam Syllabus and Pattern?

The syllabus is the list of subjects and topics an exam tests; the exam pattern is its structure — stages, papers, questions, marks, duration and negative marking — as notified by the conducting body. Both are taken from the official notification for each exam covered here.

Use the official syllabus, not a coaching summary

Boards publish the syllabus inside the recruitment notification or as a separate annexure, and it changes between cycles more often than aspirants expect — SSC revised the CGL pattern in 2022, the RRBs changed NTPC stages, and state boards add or drop papers with each advertisement. Each syllabus post here states the notification it was taken from, the stage-wise pattern with marks and negative marking, and the topic list per subject.
